Canon Mp980 Software Download For Mac

The All in One Canon Pixma MP980 is showing as compatible with Windows 10 in the Microsoft database. I can print to it, but it looks like the scanner part needs drivers that are not available on the Canon site.

I sent a mail to Canon support and here is what the tech support replied: Thank you for contacting Canon product support in regards to your PIXMA MP980 and Windows 10. Unfortunately, the MP980 is not compatible with the Windows 10 operating system.

It looks like Canon is not going to write the proper drivers for it any longer. It is a pity because their scanner/driver was really good on Win7. I know the printer is getting old (I bought it in 2009) and maybe I need to buy a new one, but I am not sure they have new All in Ones with good and quick scanner portion. I don't think that the included Win10 Scanner utility would work as well as a specific software written by the printer manufacturer. Maybe I am wrong. Anyway thanks to all for the help.

Sanning works on my MP980 with Windows 10. It works with the 'Use Scanner Driver' option both ticked and unticketed. So I guess one is using the Microsoft scanner driver and the other the Canon scanner driver. I have a Windows 10 update for the Canon MP980 printer pending, but window says it fails to update. As my printer also works OK, I'll forget about the pending update. The Windows 10 Scan App also works on my system.

I couldn't find where to adjust the settings. From the size of the sanned file I think the output is only 300dpi I am accessing the printer/scanner via WiFi. Very interesting. I am glad it works for you. Did you do an upgrade from Windows 8.1 or 7?

Are you using the MP Navigator EX 2.0 utility from Canon? Did you have to reinstall it on Win10?

By the way, you can hide the pending update for Canon MP980. I had the same problem and used the tool to hide the update. Here is some info about it. Anyway thanks for your info.

I just went to the Canon support site and downloaded the driver and MP Navigator EX 2.05 for Windows 8.1. I installed that on my Win10 machine and had no problem with it. It works great so far. I'm using this version of MP Navigator: MP Navigator EX Ver. 2.04 (Windows 8.1/8.1 x64/8/8 x64/7/7 x64/Vista/Vista64/XP/2000) Name of file is: mpnx20-win-204-ea232 I didn't reinstall any Canon software when I upgraded it all just worked. However, I notice there is a new Printer device called Canon MO980 series Printer WS.

I'm sure it wasn't there before so the Windows 10 install must have created it. It is set as the default printer. Properties for this printer still says it needs attention: Device SWD PRINTENUM WSD-48285088-125e-4747-9934-6def3c2f762d.0038 requires further installation. But it works.
